What a show actually pays
A Kingston club show at $15 a ticket with 180 in the room grosses $2,700. The venue takes a third, sound and lights cost $250, the van is $90, and the engineer is $200. What is left is about $1,260, split five ways after we put $200 aside for the record.
We publish this because every young band in Kingston is told the numbers are complicated. They are not complicated, they are just small.
