Two guitars, a double bass and whoever is nearest the drums
We met at a Tuesday session in Papine that none of us went to for the music.
Soft String has been four people since 2016 and the line-up has not changed, which at this level is the unusual part. We play about ninety shows a year, most of them within two hours of Kingston.
Three records: the first one recorded badly in a day and we would not change it, the second over eight months and it took the life out of the songs, the third in eleven days in a room in Papine, which is the one to start with.
There is no label and no manager. It means we answer our own email, which is slower, and it means the money from a record goes to the four people who made it, which is the trade we would make again.
